Valentine's Day!

Parker and I don't tend to make a big deal about Valentine's but it is still fun to do a little something. Because babysitters are a non-existent, we couldn't go out on a date which was totally fine. We decided to give our five year old wedding shower sushi rolling kit a try (finally). Our plan was to put the boys to bed at 7 and get rolling...haha:)

Although we always agree not to exchange gifts, Parker surprised me with a lovely bouquet of flowers, a gift card and a romantic card. I of course got him something too--a gun scope (he had been wanting), a toothbrush (he had been needing and a surprise!) and a funny card...call me a hopeless romantic!

I made all the boys pink French crepes with fresh vanilla cinnamon whipped cream for breakfast. After some trial and serious error, these were the best ones. Parker said they were really yummy though so it was worth the effort.

Just about to dine! It was after 8 and we were starving! The pics got a little out of order here but oh well...

Here are my sweetest Valentine's of all!

I made a yummy salad with traditional Japanese steakhouse dressing.

These were the shrimp we used for two of the rolls. Oh my goodness so delicious!

Our sushi rolling station.

Our first roll, a California, turned out pretty good.

Parker did the honors of cutting.

Not too bad! We were pretty proud of ourselves.

We made four rolls: California, spicy tuna, shrimp tempura with avocado and shrimp tempura with salmon topped with crunch and eel sauce (my favorite).

For dessert I made a vegan Mexican chocolate cake. It had cayenne in it and was absolutely AMAZING! Oh my goodness you have to try this. You took a bite and it just tasted like a yummy chocolate cake at first but then the heat hit your mouth and it was addictive! Thanks Pinterest.

We had a great day and night enjoying the love of our boys and spending time together. Hope everyone had  a great day too!

Tahoe 2013

Snow much fun in Tahoe!

We had planned on taking a small family vacation this year, maybe to Disneyland for a few days or somewhere like that. The main idea is to go somewhere that isn't freezing and covered in snow but when our good friends Dave and Edina called and invited us to Tahoe with them, we couldn't resist. We stayed at Dave's parents house in Inclince Village. It was the perfect setting for all of us and our two families had an amazingly fun time together trying out all the different winter activities Tahoe has to offer. I can't believe I'm saying it, but I may finally have come around to cold-weather sports. Crazy, I know!

Edina's picture of the gorgeous lake.

Luke and Xander sliding down the stairs at the house. It was one of their favorite pass times!

Breakfast and games!

Playing hide-and-seek!

Bath time with Addyson, Xander and Luke.

The first full day we went to a ski resort nearby called North Star. We spent the day walking through the shops stocking up on winter gear and just kind of exploring.

BFF's Dave and Parker...words escape me...

BFF's Xander and Luke...not quite as obnoxious as their fathers ha!

We took a fun ride on the gondola and saw some amazing views of the mountain.

Mommies and kiddos!

Addison--the token girl. She is such a cutie!

Tripp ready to eat lunch!

The boys entertaining themselves while we waited for our food to come..they were sure silly!

Our babies...we're thinking Tripp has a thing for the older ladies!

Getting ready to head in to Squaw Valley, home of the 1960 Winter Olympics. This place was really cool!

Delighted that they could walk around with a beer. They didn't put cup holders on strollers for nothing!

One of my favorite pics of the whole trip. Thanks Edina for snapping this shot of our kiddies!

We took the boys tubing and it was super-fun! There were three hills to choose from and they were all really fast. We couldn't take the boys on our laps but we didn't need to because they were brave and went all by themselves. It was hard to pull them away when our time was up.

We rode a moving sidewalk with our tubes up to the top of the hill.

Tripp and I cuddled while the boys went for a run.

Hanging out at the bottom of the hill waiting for our turn to tube.

Addy and mama..pretty snow bunnies!

Parker's starting a snowball fight.

So now we have to give Luke the "no snowballs in people's faces" talk.

Here comes our boy! His arms were barely long enough to hold to the tube handles.

Love this action shot.

Tripp was a great sport even though he couldn't get in on much of the action.

Edina and I nearly broke our backs building a giant snow castle.

After tubing we ate lunch at a sushi restaurant in the Squaw village. Tripp was showing off his pretzel-eating skills to our waiter and I snapped this cute pic of him:)

Parker and Dave took Luke and Xander on their first ski adventure at a nearby hill. Both the boys and dads had a good time!

The moms went to lunch instead. Tripp really got down with his cheese.

We went to a nice dinner at the Hyatt Inclince Village then went to the hotel's casino to try to hit it big...we did not, but we had fun and stayed out way past our bedtime!

On our last day we went back to North Star to ice skate. Edina and Parker are pros but for Dave and me, it was our first time. All I can say is that Dave almost blew out his knee and I am ready for Olympic trials...not really.

Luke saw this bungee trampoline and really wanted to do it...and so did I! At first I thought $12 for 5 minutes was a rip but after only 4 minutes of some pretty sick moves, including but not limited to a back flip, I was sick to my stomach and ready to get off.

Luke on the other hand had a great time and tears were shed when he wasn't able to go again. He's got energy for days!

Thank you Dave, Edina, Xander and Addyson for sharing your family vacation with us! We couldn't have had more fun and can't wait to do it again! Love you guys!
