Family Pics October 2012

Well after having our family pictures taken with my parents in New Mexico sans Parker, I though it would be nice to have some taken that included our loving husband and father! These were taken up at the gorgeous Ohme Gardens in Wenatchee. Once again, thanks Rani for your patience and creativity!

Happy Halloween!

The First Annual Alta Lake Halloween Party!

Parker and I haven't dressed up since 2008. I guess the fact that our slutty nun and pervy priest costumes went over like a lead balloon a few years back made us a little gun shy. As you can see here, we took a more family-friendly approach this year...meet Buzz, Jesse, Woody and Baby Alien!

This year we decided to host a Halloween party at the golf course. We weren't sure what to expect but it turned out awesome! We had so many homes around the course participate by handing out candy to all our little kiddos. We caravanned around the neighborhood hopping in and out of cars in the rain making sure we hit every house on the list. It was so much fun!

By the time we got back to the pro shop with all the children there was a full-fledged party going on! There was more food than could possibly have been eaten and a ton of people enjoying good company, fun decorations and eachother's costumes. We have definitely started a tradition!

Thank you to everyone who passed out candy and came to the pot luck. We had such a fun night and are looking forward to doing it again next year. PS--thanks to Parker for helping me these last few afternoons while the boys napped...hanging decorations, lights and stretching that darn spider web across everything. Couldn't have done it without you Boo!

Luke couldn't wait to get his costume on!

Willy and a pretty hippy chic...or George and Jenna!

Some of our awesome Alta neighbors...thanks for looking Nellie!

Treats...

Treats...

And more treats!

Boo!

Spidies!

Hope everyone had a safe, fun and happy Halloween!

The Chelan Chase

As many of you may know, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer this past summer. It came  as a real shock and surprise to us, as my mom has had an annual mammogram for as long as I can remember and never once had any cause for concern. She herself says that she is the poster child for early detection. Her cancer was caught early and she was able to treat it with a lumpectomy and almost seven weeks of daily (Mon-Fri) radiation treatments. Still, she has endured significant pain, discomfort, bruising, blisters and itching from the radiation, exhaustion and even guilt that her cancer wasn't as bad as some of her friends (so hurtful to hear). She handled it much better than I did, however. I became a blubbering mess on several occasions--the first when she told me her mammogram showed something and the second when she said "it's not what we were hoping for." Through it all, my mom has remained strong, courageous and faithful, trusting in the Lord to see her through. And, of course, He did. We have been overwhelmed and touched by the outpouring of love and prayers from both friends and strangers alike. My mom is almost done with her radiation and has a clean bill of health. Sons, daughters, husbands, friends--be certain that the women in your life are getting their annual mammograms as they truly can be a matter of life and death.

October, of course, is breast cancer awareness month and everything everywhere turns pink! Yay! Chelan, WA hosts an annual 5k breast cancer run called the Chelan Chase. I've never before ran in any kind of organized event..in fact, I've never really been a runner. But I discoverd a few weeks ago that running outside provides me with what is most likely the only peace and quiet I'll have all day. When Parker suggested we run together for my mom I happily agreed!

LT and mommy just before we left the house. We are sporting our custom-made "Team Mammy" shirts. I mean really, are you surprised? Fashion first people!

We all had our names on the back of our shirts.

Team Mammy ready to run!

It's almost impossible to get a shot of everyone looking.

Parker and me just seconds before the race began.

Parker was at a real disadvantage---he pushed the stroller the whole 3.1 miles and had to slow his pace so I could keep up!

Luke was waiting for us with Nana at the finish line. This was taken immediately afer finishing the race. I'm smiling, but really I'm just trying not to puke.

We did it! Parker and I placed 39th and 40th out of 358 participants. I finished 5th out of 29 in my 30-39 age group and 14th in overall women runners. I clocked my fastest mile at 7:54 and my fasted 5k at 25:33. I have to say that Parker pushed me really hard the whole race. He kept saying, "come on Lala, we can catch these people." In my mind I was telling him to shut up but I'm so glad he was there to encourage me. I was shocked and so proud of how well we did!

We celebrated with breakfast and mimosas at Campbell's after the race.
It was such a wonderful, memorable and deeply meaningful day for me. I am so blessed to have a husband who supports and encourages me and my family. He didn't bat an eye when I said I wanted to have "Team Mammy" shirts made for the race. He agreed, knowing how much it would mean to both my mom and me. Parker was actually the person who encouraged me take part in the Chelan Chase in the first place.
I am also so very blessed and so beyond grateful to God to have a mom who is healthy and can call herself a "survivor." We love you so so much Mammy and are so happy that you're healthy!

Happy 3rd Birthday Luke!

For Luke's 3rd birthday he told us he wanted a pirate party, so a pirate party he got!

Here's our little pirate all decked out, hook and all.

He had a pirate cake and lots of pirate-themed treats for he and his first mates to enjoy!

Of course there was a treasure chest full of treats.

Daddy even made a plank! You had to walk it before you could dip in to the treasure chest.

The "x" marked the spot for Luke's pirate party.

Pirate Mommy and Pirate Daddy (we had to get in on some of the fun too).

The whole family about to walk the plank!

Time to blow out the candle!

There were lots of kids...

And lots of presents!

Doing what I do best...

LT and Mimi (Parker's Grandmother)

Baby brother was a pirate too!

On Luke's real birthday (Oct 16), he woke up at 5:30 in the morning and was ready to open presents.

He got a motorcycle...

And some shoes.

He ate a cupcake for breakfast and got to blow out candles again.

We watched Hotel Transylvania (super-cute movie btw).

Family shot in the movies...don't worry...we were the only people in the theater.

Worn out from a long couple days of birthday celebrations, Luke fell asleep on the way home.

But there was one last surprise!

A real motorcycle!

Luke was a little unsure at first but he has since ridden it by himself up and down the first fairway and loves it!
Daddy got his way on this one...I put up a fight but I guess this is what it's going to be like being the mommy to two boys. All I know is that if we ever have a girl, she will MOST DEFINITELY have a Barbie Dream House:)
